Boxing night in Stuttgart

Yesterday, everything at the SCHARRena in Stuttgart was about boxing. I had the honor of hosting ten action-packed fights as the ring announcer. The main bouts of Altin Zogaj and Simon Zachenhuber were the highlights of the evening.

Impressive atmosphere at the SCHARRena

The SCHARRena, which is unique in Europe, holds 2,500 spectators and is integrated into the stadium complex of the MHP Arena, home of the VfB Stuttgart soccer team. And the crowd created a great atmosphere when the action in the ring started. What made this event special was that it was not just about titles, but that five euros of the ticket price was donated to the “miteinanderleben e.V.”, an organization which works to promote the social and professional participation of people with disabilities.

Great supporting program with “Voice of Germany” star

It wasn’t just the boxing matches that made this great event so special, but also the supporting program. Laura Schopf, known from the 2023 season of “Voice of Germany”, performed and heated up the atmosphere in the hall as a singer.

Simon Zachenhuber with convincing knockout victory

In the super middleweight category, Simon Zachenhuber, also known from “Let’s Dance”, took on the experienced Polish fighter Robert Talarek. Zachenhuber, who has already celebrated titles as IBF Jr. World Champion, IBF and WBA European Champion 2023 in his career, came to the boxing night with a flawless record of 26-0 wins. Zachenhuber was able to send his opponent to the canvas twice with a straight left. When he wobbled Talarek again with a right hook in the third round, the referee had to intervene and declare Zachenhuber the winner by technical knockout.

Altin Zogaj becomes WBA European champion

Local hero Altin Zogaj, who also organized the Stuttgart boxing night, had a much harder time beating his opponent than Zachenhuber. The undefeated Kosovo boxer and reigning IBO European champion (16-0) had to survive ten intense rounds in the light heavyweight division against the current WBF world champion Alexander Rigas. In the end, he won by unanimous decision. After scores of once 97-93 and twice 96-94 in his favor, he was able to raise the well-deserved WBA European champion belt.

An all-round successful evening
