On February 13th, my American boxing dream will come true

What previously only was valid for Austria and Germany is now coming true overseas. As a boxing fan, a new world is opening up for me. I have been working as a ring announcer in Austria and Germany since 2017. Soon I will be able to hype boxing fans for the fight in the US for the first time.

Boxing in the Big Apple

The Paramount is an event venue in New York that not only hosts shows and concerts, but also boxing matches. On February 13, “Rockin’ Fights 50” will take place there. I feel particularly honored to have been hired as the ring announcer for this traditional event. After all, the 50th anniversary is something special.

Established boxing event with an experienced promoter

The fight night is organized by Star Boxing, by well-known promoter Joe DeGuardia. I had the pleasure of meeting him last year in Puerto Rico at the WBO Convention, and I’m as happy as a child on Christmas morning to give my debut as a ring announcer in the United States.

Stars in the ring

The main event will see former WBO light heavyweight world champion Joe Smith Jr. take on an opponent yet to be named. According to current planning, more than five fights are scheduled.

From a German-speaking perspective, Granit Stein from Ingolstadt will also be entering the ring. After 19 undefeated professional fights, the former European light heavyweight champion lost for the first time in December, and of all places, it was in New York. Hopefully this is not a bad omen for him.

Boxing as a passion

Performing in the mecca of boxing, in the U.S., is something special. I will be the first ring announcer from a German-speaking country in the United States and I will do everything I can to ensure that this event will not be the only one of its kind.
