Speaker at Tony Robbins’ Leadership Academy

This month, I had a very special experience as a top speaker. I had the opportunity to speak on stage at Tony Robbins’ Virtual Leadership Academy, and I’m still buzzing from my trip back from the US.

What is the Leadership Academy?

Tony Robbins is the world’s No. 1 life and business coach. While the Leadership Academy has been around for many years, it has now become accessible to an even larger audience online since the pandemic. The format has become well established. It is a 4-day event in which participants connect online to learn leadership tools. I am impressed by the setting in the mega studio in West Palm Beach, Florida. You stand on stage surrounded by giant screens showing the approximately 1,000 participants connected from all over the world. 

Differences from a “normal” keynote speech 

While I was already on stage as a speaker at the Leadership Academy in 2019 (then in San Diego), the Virtual Leadership Academy offers a completely different perspective. With a live audience on site, the reactions are immediately visible and audible, but in the studio you get more visual feedback from the participants. For me as a speaker, the biggest challenge was to focus fully on the camera, because that’s what the participants see. Not so easy when there’s so much going on to the left and right. For the participants, on the other hand, it’s great because everyone suddenly finds themselves sitting in the front row with plenty of legroom. 

An inspiring experience
